Celebrating 20 years of Room 13 Hareclive!

This summer we celebrate two decades of Room 13 Hareclive as an independent artists’ studio co-run by children based in the grounds of Hareclive primary school. And 20 years of Hartcliffe children’s amazing creativity, art and voice!

To mark this, we are having a reunion party for Room 13ers past and present. And a FREE exhibition at M Shed Museum Bristol from July 16th – 21st.

20 Years

Room 13 Hareclive has now been working for all this time in the same community, with the same adult team and with ‘generations’ of Hareclive children who have helped to grow and shape the studio’s unique culture and space.

That’s over 1500 children – artists, makers, thinkers, do-ers, entrepreneurs – who have been able to use the studio regularly between the ages of 5-11 to think, talk, dream, explore, experiment, collaborate, make, create, and make happen. And 20 years of their phenomenal achievements – from individual artworks to studio wide creative films and projects and giving speeches, all sharing what matters to Hartcliffe children with their community, city and world.

Of course, over 20 years we’ve had a lot of serious challenges for children, the community and our studio, from the Covid pandemic and lockdowns to the cost of living crisis and more. In these times, we know that space and support for creativity matter more than ever for children. And so we celebrate being there, through all of that.
