Exhibitions

How old do you have to be to be an artist?’ All Room 13 studios challenge public and professional views around art and artists through the way we work and what we achieve. In this sense, an exhibition is an act of activism around the value of children’s creative expression and voice. Room 13 Hareclive has had many exhibitions big and small, local and national, since we began in 2003. All inviting audiences to discover the important creativity, voice and achievements of children from Hartcliffe.

Each exhibition starts with ideas and discussions round the table in the studio. Regular studio days provide time for creative and artistic work supported by the artist educators, or a chance to gather in existing work. Exhibitions give children a chance to show work, have a voice and be present in arts and cultural spaces as artists, not just audiences. Hartcliffe children also get to visit their city and meet curators and other professionals. All this widens horizons, connections, role models and aspirations.
